bebo, ne forlasu min

published: 2-8-2020

you’re prickly as a cactus
stiffening up whenever I get near
maybe I haven’t fallen in love with a sunrise
but a porcupine with human ears

“what if you get sick of me?” she asks
still afraid, doubt lingering in her chest
“what if I wake up and I’ve accidentally murdered you
not in body, but in soul, and fled west?”

all she wants is to just be mine
but I don’t know whose I am
lost in memories, abandoned in time

“baby, don’t leave me alone”
and she shivers close to me
we should have fallen asleep a long time ago
but come morning, I guess we'll see
